Argentine Walnut

Species: Juglans australis
Additional Comments: A true walnut. Similar to black walnut, but darker and more figured. Very lustrous, sometimes with a purplish hue. Works
very well, stable, and easy to glue and nail. Less expensive than our native Black Walnut, and much better quality lumber! |

Species: Cordia trichotoma
Additional Comments: A uniquely-colored grayish-brown wood with an attractive figure of darker stripes. Very strong and quite durable. Works
well and considered stable. Closely related to Bocote and Ziricote. |

Additional Comments: A golden-yellow, attractively-figured wood. Used locally for furniture building, and often veneered. May have sulpherous odor until finished. |

Species: Calycophyllum multiflorum
Additional Comments: An ivory-white, straight-grained wood with a very fine texture. Sometimes contains shades of light gray. Works beautifully. Used widely for turning and furniture.
Slightly heavier than hard maple, but works much nicer! Often compared to boxwood. |

Additional Comments: Similar to Ivorywood, but a light lemon-yellow in color.

Species: Pterogyne nitens
Additional Comments: Attractive lumber with an uneven texture of medium-and light-red streaks. Lustrous, with a mahogany-like grain. Good durability, easy to work, and very stable.
Long-time favorite for fine carpentry in Argentina. |
